One of the best ways of saving the planet?

If maybe this (or this) E-book initiative can make it more affordable to buy the electronic versions of printed words, a lot of trees will be left to absorb Co2 instead of attracting power hungry forestry machines.
Why oh why do the electronic editions cost more or less as much as the printed versions?
In my book (!) the cost of production and e-distribution is a small fraction of the printed and diesel-distributed versions and this must soon be reflected in the cost to the end user.

If e-distribution of "the printed word" is done right I might consider subscribing to publications once again.
